Fresh off a thrilling showcase with Gilas Women at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup in Singapore, Jhazmin Joson is set to make waves down under.
The dynamic 5-foot-7 guard from Ateneo de Manila University has inked a deal with NBL1 West team Goldfields Giants, marking a significant leap in her promising career.
TMG Rising, the agency representing Joson, made the announcement on Monday.
“Congratulations to Jhaz Joson for signing with NBL1 team Goldfields Giants, an NBL1 West club based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The Giants got a good one!” read the agency’s statement.
In her final year donning the blue and white of Ateneo, she showcased her versatility, averaging an impressive 10.57 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.71 assists per game.
Joson has also been a stalwart for Gilas, representing the Philippines in both 3×3 and traditional 5-on-5.
The Giants’ next matchup will be against Rockingham on Friday.
Joson’s move to the NBL1 league adds to the growing Filipino presence in Australian basketball.
Joining her ranks are compatriots Jack Animam and Jordan Heading, each carving out their own paths in the competitive Australian basketball landscape.
Animam is showcasing her skills with the South’s Ringwood while Heading is donning the colors of Central’s West Adelaide.
