Jared Brown, the 5-foot-10 guard of Ateneo de Manila University, has chosen to conclude his brief tenure with the Blue Eagles, ending up as a “one-and-done” player.
The announcement came on Friday as Brown revealed his decision to pursue a professional career, expressing gratitude for his time at Ateneo.
Acknowledging the brevity of his stint, Brown shared, “I know my time as a Blue Eagle has been short, but within this year, I can genuinely say I have been a part of a family and a brotherhood that I will cherish forever.”
Looking ahead, Brown declared his intention to transition into professional basketball, a lifelong goal he is eager to fulfill. He credited the unwavering support of his family, coaches, teammates, and management for enabling him to reach this pivotal point in his career.
During his lone year with the Blue Eagles, Brown showcased his basketball prowess, averaging 9.8 points, 2.33 assists, and 1.73 rebounds per game.
The 5-foot-10 guard had transferred from Westmont College, where he spent three formative years before making the move to Ateneo.
Brown’s decision follows Kai Ballungay’s earlier choice to forego his remaining years with Ateneo.
Expressing gratitude to the university and its community, Brown stated, “I just want to say thank you for all of the support throughout this year. I am extremely blessed and honored to have put on an Ateneo jersey because of the rich and legendary tradition this University has.”
He further conveyed his appreciation for the overwhelming love he received from everyone involved.
In closing, Brown attributed his decision to a higher plan, saying, “It is God’s plan for me to start the next chapter of my life, and I am super excited for what the future holds. Thank you, Ateneo.”
