James White reaffirmed his commitment to the Phoenix Fuel Masters, making it clear that he will always be prepared whenever his team reinstates him to the roster this 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.
The 24-year-old anchor has been placed into the injury/reserve list days ago as — according to head coach Louie Alas — he hurt his Achilles tendon, which has been an issue for some time now.
“Dati na niyang injury yon, since college,” said Alas moments after their 103-98 win over the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Sunday night — their first game in the conference without White.
“Just right now I’m recovering. Gotta stay ready for whenever my name is called,” expressed White, who watched the Fuel Masters’ game Sunday behind the team’s bench.
“Now, it’s just staying ready.”
It is uncertain when White will come back — or if he will — as the Fuel Masters have called up long-time import Eugene Phelps to fill the void left by the six-foot-eight forward.
Phelps, just like before, was stellar in his return, leading Phoenix with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists in the double overtime win — all that despite cramping up in the fourth quarter.
The Georgia Tech’s future is now clouded with uncertainties. But White, the former Mahindra/Kia reinforcement, remains positive, with full recovery all in his mind right now.
“Hopefully, God willing I’ll be healed soon,” expressed White, who averaged 25.25 points and 13.25 rebounds in the four games he had played.
“I feel great, I feel blessed and thankful.”
