Ivy Lacsina’s transition from a middle blocker to an open spiker is now in full swing after she assumed the starting outside hitter role for F2 Logistics in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.
Lacsina had already played one game as an open hitter in the All-Filipino Conference. In this game, she delivered a game-high 13 points on 12 attacks and one block to help the Cargo Movers sweep Farm Fresh, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23, at the Filoil EcoOil Centre on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old former UAAP champion revealed that a late-night conversation with head coach Regine Diego helped her in her Invitational debut.
Malaking factor yun para makapaglaro ako ngayon,” said Lacsina.
According to Diego, Lacsina still needs to work on several aspects of her transition. However, he acknowledges that she has the potential to be one of the best outside spikers in the Philippines.
Gusto ko siyang maglaro bilang outside hitter sa buong conference,” she added.
Lacsina vowed to repay Diego’s trust as she looks to fully embrace her new position.
