Terrafirma battles on without AWOL Nonoy, Sangalang

Terrafirma is sticking with its current roster, even as it remains clueless about the whereabouts of Mark Nonoy and Louie Sangalang.

Coach Ronald Tubid would rather focus on the players he has at the moment, although he admitted that the Dyip still feel confused as they have yet to hear from the two, both of whom have been AWOL for nearly two months now.

“Next man up,” the former PBA star told Tiebreaker Times. “Kung sino lang available … Hindi pu-pwedeng isa lang, kailangan team talaga.”

Tubid said as much after their 112-82 romping of Titan Ultra on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, noticeably missing those two players.

And that could be the case for their upcoming games in this conference, until Nonoy and Sangalang return their calls and messages.

The Dyip, according to Tubid, began their preparations for the midseason tournament last January 12, but the two did not report — and haven’t yet — leaving them without any idea of how they’re doing.

“Ang practice namin, nag-start January 12 eh. Ever since, wala na sila,” he said. “We tried to reach out, wala.

“Mahirap hanapin ‘yung hindi nagpapakita.”

But while they await the two to resurface, Terrafirma has its sights set on competing with the remaining pieces, all of which showed great promise following a dominant showing against the Giant Risers.

Import Mubashar Ali led the way with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Jerrick Ahanmisi made 26 points, seven assists, and five steals, while Joseph Eriobu and Paolo Hernandez added 17 and 15 markers, respectively.

All but one of the 13 players fielded scored at least three points in the win, which was their first since a 97-91 triumph over NLEX last October 12.

“Even if si Jerrick ‘yung scorer namin, maraming may role doon na hindi napapansin sa stats,” said Tubid. “So same ‘yun sa concept ng team namin.

“Kung sinong mawala, next man up talaga.”
