“We’re excited about this. Going to our second year, we are getting results. From a rag-tag team, we are developing it into a team that can compete against top-caliber PBA teams so hopefully we can grow to be competitive with all the other teams,” Isaac said.
The head coach added he is still looking to turn the Elite into a team that will earn the respect of the league’s better squads, and that is the only time he would consider it an achievement for the young franchise.
“As with regards to achievement, siguro we won’t consider it an achievement yet. For the whole team going to the playoffs, malaking bagay yun pero para sa akin, hindi ko pa iko-consider na malaking achievement yung sitwasyon namin ngayon until such time na Blackwater is a team to (be) reckoned with, that’s the time we can call it an achievement. Sa ngayon, hindi pa siguro,” he said.
The Elite will clash with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters — whom they have to beat twice — starting on Saturday. While hopes are slim, Isaac says the team shall do its best to try and challenge the third-seeded side.
“We will do our very best and hopefully we can compete with them.”
