Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao said the brace on Paul Lee’s injured knee has already been removed, and the backcourt star may already start practicing again next week.
“Tinanggal na yung brace niya. Mayroon na siyang light therapy and next week he can work out in the gym,” Guiao said Friday night.
The mentor admitted the Elasto Painters only targeted the twice-to-beat incentive instead of the outright semi-finals spot because of Lee’s absence.
“When Paul was injured, we had to scale down our expectations,” Guiao shared. But since Rain or Shine have been playing well, Guiao even joked: “But we are playing well without him. Baka hindi na namin siya kailangan.”
Guiao says the team cannot afford to lose its final two assignments; an outright semis spot may give Rain or Shine enough time to field back Lee.
“We are trying to buy time for Paul. That is going to be the best. If we make the semis outright, that gives us time to rest and prepare. We want to bring him in in the semis as much as possible,” Guiao said.
At 7-2, Rain or Shine are currently at the number two spot in the team standings.
