The Philippine Sports Commission and the National Golf Association of the Philippines proudly launched the National Golf Grassroots Development Program at Club Intramuros in Manila.
“This program will prove that golf is for everyone. No barriers. Walang hadlang,” said PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio.
The initiative is designed to make golf more accessible and inclusive by breaking barriers to the sport for the grassroots sector, including public school students, out-of-school youth, and the children of golf course caddies and maintenance workers.
With the full support of the Department of Tourism, TIEZA – Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the campaign aims to further expand the program’s reach to more children, helping discover potential talent while empowering grassroots communities.
TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for young athletes.
Meanwhile, NGAP Secretary General Valeriano “Bones” Floro II discussed the program’s master plan, which will serve as a roadmap for athletes, coaches, and their families.
The NSA will also provide high-caliber coaches to help develop and enhance the athletes’ skills.
Young golfers Winter Serapio, Zero Plete, Nicole Gan, and Kamilla del Mundo headlined the “Voices from the Tee” segment, where they shared their inspiring journeys representing the country in both local and international competitions.
Among the program’s other developments, Bingo Plus is set to donate 100 dozen golf balls and four junior golf sets to each participating course in the program.
