Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is mourning following the passing of one of its beloved personnel.
Raphael Vicera, more popularly known as Mang Jun, passed away on Saturday at the age of 67 due to diabetes complication, per reports.
Vicera served as the ball club’s masseuse for nearly four decades, so he has definitely seen everything during his time there.
“He was my connection from the Ginebra past,” wrote Ginebra head coach Tim Cone through his Twitter account @manilacone.
Ginebra lifer Mark Caguioa, meanwhile, took to Instagram to pay tribute to Vicera, whom he called a “legend”.
“For the people that don’t know Mang Jun he is a legend and one of the most important key members of the team. You have Coach Sonny and this guy Mang Jun,” the 2012 PBA MVP wrote.
Caguioa also looked back on how Vicera was while working with the league’s most popular team.
“If you’re injured or you need a massage Mang Jun can do this for hours while telling you jokes. You can tell he loves working for Ginebra,” Caguioa recalled.
“We will all miss you and I’m sure the old school fans and old school players will miss you too. My heart truly goes out to the Vicera family. Rest in peace. We love you Mang Jun.”
