FC Tokyo-Sakai match scrapped as Blazers test positive

Just a day after returning to taraflex from a two-week absence due to COVID-19, Marck Espejo’s FC Tokyo got its game against Sakai today cancelled.

This as a number of the Blazers delegation yielded positive test results for COVID-19.

“The game against Sakai which was scheduled to be held on March 6 was cancelled today,” read FC Tokyo’s statement.

“This is due to the occurrence of positive testers for the new coronavirus infection from Sakai Blazers.”

Last Saturday, Sakai cruised to an easy 25-19, 25-17, 25-19 straight sets win over FC Tokyo.

The Blazers are still atop the standings at 21-8, while FC Tokyo stayed at eighth behind an 8-17 record.

Espejo’s squad just came from a two-week layoff, after having positive results also in their team.

As a result, their four games against JT Thunders and Nagoya were all cancelled.

FC Tokyo will next face Toray on Saturday, 2 pm, at their home turf in Sumida City Gymnasium.
