YOKKAICHI, Japan — Alas Pilipinas’ struggles continued as it absorbed its fourth straight loss, falling to Indonesia, 23-25, 26-24, 22-25, 21-25, in the classification round of the indoor men’s volleyball event of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Thursday at Komaki Park Arena here.
The Philippines, which went winless in Pool D after three games, will drop into the 13th-16th place classification phase and face Kazakhstan on Friday as it looks to salvage a higher finish in the tournament.
Leo Ordiales paced Alas with 13 points on 11 attacks and two aces, while team captain Bryan Bagunas saw limited action throughout the four-set contest. Josh Ybañez, meanwhile, anchored the defense with 16 excellent digs and 16 excellent receptions.
Marck Espejo and Buds Buddin added 11 points apiece, in the defeat, while Jude Garcia recorded 10 points.
Indonesia’s attack proved too difficult for the Philippines to contain, with the Indonesians converting 59 of their 120 attempts for a 49.2 percent success rate.
Boy Arnez Arabi top scored for Indonesia with 20 points, while Fauzan Nibras had 17 markers on 13 attacks, three blocks, and one ace.
