Gaston, Nunag lead Capital1 reload as Solar Spikers unveil eight new signings

The cavalry has officially arrived for Capital1.

On Wednesday, the Solar Spikers unveiled eight new recruits, headlined by former Chery Tiggo middle blocker Pauline Gaston, as the club looks to bolster its youthful roster led by top overall pick Bella Belen ahead of the 2026 Premier Volleyball League season.

Also joining the fold are former Chery Tiggo standouts Jasmine Nabor and Shaya Adorador, additions to a squad coming off a quarterfinal finish in the Reinforced Conference that ended with a loss to eventual finalist ZUS Coffee.

Gaston brings added versatility with her ability to play both middle blocker and wing. Meanwhile, Nabor and Adorador inject championship experience into a rising team eager to take the next step in the standings.

The Solar Spikers also strengthened their frontline with the acquisition of former Choco Mucho middle blocker Cherry Nunag and ex-Akari middle blocker Ezra Madrigal.

Nunag and Madrigal, both of whom previously played under head coach Roger Gorayeb, provide solid options in the middle. The two also bring finals experience and international exposure from their stints with the national team.

It marked a significant revamp for the young Solar Spikers, who likewise welcomed former Galeries Tower wingers France Ronquillo and Ysa Jimenez, along with ex-Nxled libero Rachel Jorvina, to a promising core that includes Belen, Leila Cruz, Pia Abbu, and team captain Roma Mae Doromal.

Ronquillo and Jimenez are expected to provide added scoring off the bench, with Ronquillo having also shown she can step into a starting role during her time with the Highrisers.

Jorvina, meanwhile, is projected to serve as a dependable backup for Doromal.
