Foton shuts down Santiago-Manabat for Invitationals

The Foton Tornadoes are bracing for the worst regarding Dindin Santiago-Manabat’s injury

Though the MRI results have yet to be released, the Foton Tornadoes have let off Dindin Santiago-Manabat for the rest of the 2017 PSL Invitational Cup, according to team manager Diane Santiago.

“[Sa] Invitationals no na po,” Foton’s team manager said in a text message when asked about whether her younger sister can return this conference.

Santiago-Manabat, 23, sustained her injury last Thursday when Foton faced the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors in their final assignment for the first round.

During the fifth set of the game, Manabat went for a powerful hit over two blockers to give Foton the lead for good. However, the six-foot-three open hitter’s left knee buckled on the landing, and she crashed to the floor and had to be carried to their dugout.

It is feared that the three-time PSL champion might have sustained an MCL Grade 2 sprain and a partial ACL tear.

Diane Santiago is hoping that the young Tornadoes will rally around this and use this as a motivation in the next round of the tournament.

“It’s a big adjustment sa kanila. We all know na mga bata pa yung mga players namin and 12 lang line up ko so minus 1, 11 nalang sila. But I know everyone will step up and I hope na maging motivation pa sa kanila yung nangyari sa Captain nila,” she added.
