Rondina, vets teach Capital1 a lesson for second win in PVL

Choco Mucho used its third set frustrations to dominate Capital1 in the fourth and take a 25-20, 26-24, 26-28, 25-9, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre on Thursday night.

The Flying Titans notched their second straight win after opening the conference with a loss for a 2-1 record.

After failing to close out the third set, Choco Mucho responded with a vengeance in the fourth period, opening it on a 17-5 blast all the way to the win in two hours and 12 minutes.

“Kahit papaano swerte pa rin kami ngayong araw. Yun nga natalo kami nung third set pero pagdating nung fourth set mas nadomina namin yung game dahil yung gusto namin mangyari sa court at lumabas,” said Flying Titans head coach Dante Alinsunurin.

Choco Mucho rallied back from an 11-18 hole in the third frame, extending the set. However, Leila Cruz and Heather Guino-o sent the match to a fourth set with back-to-back hits for the 28-26 win for the Solar Spikers.

Sisi Rondina stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points on 17 attacks, four blocks, and two aces to go with 12 digs and nine receptions.

Thang Ponce, meanwhile, manned the floor with 30 excellent digs in 43 attempts while also getting 10 excellent receptions.

Royse Tubino and Dindin Manabat alsop added 12 and 11 points, respectively, despite only playing in three sets.

Choco Mucho looks to make it three wins in a row next Thursday against Cignal at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
