According to a teammate that requested anonymity, a ‘love triangle’ situation is said to be involved in the case and a hired gunman was the one who assassinated the young MMA star. Based on a report by Nissi Icasiano of Rappler, the Davao Police are still investigating the case.

Ale Cali was born on November 20, 1991. The Beefit Pythons Pit standout made his professional MMA debut in his hometown of Davao with the URCC on August 23, 2009. He lost his debut fight.

In his next five bouts, Cali was able to compile a streak of five straight wins including winning the PXC Flyweight Championship against Jesse Taitano at PXC 29 and a career-defining win over Erwin Tagle at PXC 34.

Cali lost his next two fights with the PXC against Louis Smolka and Ernesto Montilla. “The Young Gun” compiled a record of five wins and three losses.

The Filipino martial arts community mourns the loss of Cali and is hoping that justice will be served.
