Encho Serrano sizzled with 27 points as Siomai King defeated the hard-fighting Tiaong Meaksyon 83-76 last Sunday to claim the historic inaugural crown in the D2 Super Cup Invitational Tournament.
The tournament was held in partnership with the Pilipinas Super League at the Tiaong Convention Center.
Serrano showcased his brilliance throughout the game and the tournament, adding five rebounds and two assists for Siomai King.
Leo Najorda provided strong support with 17 points and six rebounds.
Serrano was named the Super MVP of the tournament.
Nigerian center Emman Ojuola also achieved a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, contributing to Siomai King’s victory.
They took home the grand prize of P2 million in the week-long competition powered by Converge and supported by Alona party-list Rep. Anna Villaraza-Suarez.
Siomai King held a 45-40 lead at halftime and maintained control with a 68-61 advantage heading into the final period.
Under the guidance of Siomai King coach JR Aquino, who received the Super Coach award, the team limited Tiaong to just eight points in the final quarter to secure the victory.
Toby Agustin led the Mapua University-backed Tiaong side with 20 points and six rebounds, while Warren Bonifacio and Clint Escamis contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively.
In the battle for third place, Manila dominated San Antonio Quezon with an 82-73 victory, fueled by Adrian Celada’s 16 points and four assists.
