McKinley Hill Stadium to host first round UAAP Season 78 Football matches

Teams and fans will experience a new football venue this UAAP Season 78.

Unlike the past few seasons, where fields in Ateneo De Manila University and Far Eastern University-Diliman were the main venues for UAAP Football, the McKinley Hill Stadium formerly known as Emperador Stadium in Taguig has been tapped by the organizers to host the weekend matches for the first round this season.

Matches will be played on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Most weekend matchdays will be triple headers, consisting of two Men’s Division matches with a Women’s game sandwiched in between. The Emperador Stadium is the designated site for these games. As for Thursday matchdays, all games will be held at the Moro Lorenzo Field in Ateneo de Manila University. Only Men’s games will be held on the said day, and these will be double-headers.

However, the February 21, February 27-28, March 5, March 6, March 10, and March 12 matchdays are exceptions.

The dates for the second round matchdays, all the way to the finals, have been declared, but there has been no official word as of press time regarding the venues and the fixtures.

Season 78 commences on February 7, 2016 (Sunday) at the Emperador Stadium. Defending treble champions Far Eastern University will start their Men’s title defense against the University of the Philippines (1:00PM), while Ateneo de Manila University will face off against archrivals De La Salle University-Manila in the next two games (Women’s 4:00PM; Men’s 7:00PM)
