SOURCE: Dulay out as Green Spikers coach; Pamilar eyed as replacement

After failing to make the UAAP Final Four for the third straight season, De La Salle University Green Spikers head coach Ronald Dulay has been relieved of his position according to a reliable source.

“Hindi na nare-new yung contract niya. So three years ang contract niya, natapos last May,” said the source who is closely monitoring the situation.

Dulay, apparently, rued his first two seasons as he inherited a team that had known internal issues and was hard to manage. Season 78 was the first time Dulay had a team he could call his own as most of the “problematic” players had already graduated and were replaced by his recruits.

Still, the Green Spikers finished in sixth place with a 4-8 record.

The source adds that Dulay’s former collegiate coach, Nes Pamilar was the top candidate to fill the vacancy.

“Tumawag siya (Pamilar) kay Ron (Dulay). Nagtatanong tungkol sa team, nangangamusta. Ang tingin ko, si Nes na talaga ang papalit sa kanya,” the source closed.

Pamilar last coached for his alma mater, Far Eastern University, taking the Women’s team to several Final Four appearances. He also guided the Lady Tamaraws’ last championship back in UAAP Season 70.
