The Filipino Flash Nonito Donaire

After falling against Nicholas Walters a year ago, Nonito Donaire Jr. has focused on training and has seen a resurgence in his career. The 33 year old Filipino-American has strung together two emphatic wins including a second round TKO victory over William Prado here in Manila and another TKO victory against Anthony Settoul over at Macau.

Yesterday, the former holder of the WBO Super Bantamweight belt Guillermo Rigondeaux was stripped of his belt due to inactivity as expected. Rigondeaux bested Donaire for the same belt last April 14, 2013 in New York City.

Early Friday morning, both Donaire and Juarez made weight for their bout that will be held in Coliseo Roberto Clemente, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Five division world champion Nonito Donaire Jr (35-3-0, 23KO) weighed in at 122 lbs while his Puerto Rican opponent Cesar Juarez (17-3-0, 13KO) also came in at 122 lbs during the official weigh-in.

Mexican Juarez has strung together four straight wins and is nine years the junior of Donaire.

Will Nonito Donaire regain his crown? Or will the young Mexican lion upset the veteran? Sound-off in our comment’s section
