Gymnastics has produced another prodigy as Daniela Dela Pisa came up on top of the hoop event of the 30th Southeast Asian Games rhytmic gymnastics, Saturday morning at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Qualifying in second after Friday’s qualification, the 16-year-old native of Cebu turned it up a notch to walk away with the historic gold for the country in this gymnastics discipline.
Dela Pisa scored a total of 17.750, crushing Malaysian Izzah Amzan’s 16.500 for the mint. A whopping 11.400 difficulty score propelled the Filipina, along with a better 6.350 mark execution.
Amy Kwan, also from Malaysia, got the bronze with 15.900.
Prior to this, Dela Pisa took silver in the 2019 Singapore Open while topping the 3rd Royal Open in Greece.
