Chiara Permentilla waited a long time to get her UAAP moment. As she was serving her residency last year, Permentilla was chomping at the bit to help the Adamson University Lady Falcons, who struggled to a 1-13 record.
When she debuted yesterday, Permentilla immediately made a splash, leading Adamson in points with 12, and displaying a versatile scoring repertoire.
“I was more excited than nervous kasi I’ve been waiting for this for a year. Ito na, parang living the dream. I’m trying to make the most out of this opportunity,” admitted the 20-year-old spiker.
The Lady Falcons, however, suffered a disappointing loss to the National University Lady Bulldogs. The Adamson sophomore admits that they played way below their usual level.
“I guess it’s more of us making a lot of errors. Pinahirapan namin ‘yung sarili namin. ‘Yung errors na ginagawa namin were because of us, walang control ‘yung NU sa ginalaw namin,” the five-foot-eight outside hitter expressed.
Permentilla added they will need to mature quickly, especially if they want to compete against the UAAP elite.
“When the errors begin to pile up, the pressure really mounts para tigilin ‘yung run namin ng mistakes. We need to have the maturity na we just want to keep moving forward and not let past mistakes bog us down,” shared Lipa, Batangas-born Lady Falcon.
“Strong heart na lang din ‘yung kailangan.”
