It was a dream start for the retooled San Beda College Lady Red Spikers after stringing up three straight wins, dropping just a single set in this run.
The more experienced Intramuros-based squad sent San Beda back to earth with a decisive sweep. And the latter’s woes was most evident in the limited production of prized rookie Cesca Racraquin, limiting the rookie to just 11 points.
For the first-year player, her team was too focused individually that they forgot to work as a team.
“Mas nag-focus kami sa panalo ng sobra na hindi na kami nagco-communicate,” Racraquin, who tried out for the DLSU Lady Spikers before, said.
“Nagka-watak-watak kami. Nagsisisihan kami pag nagkakamali. Super nag-fall apart kami.”
Racraquin shared that it was not the case in those three victories. “Nung first games, hindi kami nagwawatak-watak. Pinag-uusapan namin agad, bumabangon kami as a team.”
Despite the humbling loss, the San Beda Lady Red Spikers are more than willing to bounce back big in the last few matches of the elimination round.
For Racraquin, they just need to continue “yung will namin na bumangon agad kapag nadown kami ng ilang points, yung communication, yung patience, [and] yung discipline sa paglalaro.”
“Dahil sa pagkatalo namin, siyempre mas grabe yung drive namin na makabawi at manalo. Target namim mag-Final Four, so ipupush talaga namin.”
“Lahat babawi sa next game,” she vowed.
