Despite missing the services of do-it-all William McAloney, the Cebu Sharks still managed to thrill their hometown crowd inside the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, turning back the Muntinlupa Cagers, 79-62, Saturday evening.
Already short-handed, Cebu also missed Raffy Octobre late after he was called for a disqualifying foul against Mark Guillen.
Still, Patrick Cabahug willed the Sharks to a 6-2 record, firing 26 points to go along with seven rebounds.
With Cabahug doing all the work on offense, Cebu held Marikina scoreless in the first six and a half minutes of the final frame to turn a 70-all deadlock into a lead that went to as high as 21 points.
Edrian Lao added 12 markers whiel Octobre hauled down 12 boards.
Muntinlupa, who fell to 3-7, was led by Biboy Enguio’s 16 markers.
Earlier in the day, the Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors set the record for most triples knocked down in an MPBL game to torch the Paranaque Patriots, 100-87.
The Realtors, who racked up their fifth straight win to go up to 6-2, knocked down 21 three-pointers in the game.
Jeric Teng nailed nine of their total to tie Valenzuela’s Chris De Chavez for most triples in the game. Teng ended up with 30 points.
