B.League: Juan GDL’s rollercoaster Tokyo Z run continues as Earthfriends go down to 0-4

A day after playing just a single minute, Juan Gomez de Liaño finally got more playing time from Tokyo Z head coach Hugo Lopez.

But in the end, his entry proved too little, too late during Earthfriends’ crushing 55-84 loss at the hands of Yamagata in the 2021-22 B.League Division II tournament, Sunday at Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park.

Gomez de Liano, who played limited minutes in the first half, plugged into the game with 4:41 left in the third canto. However, the Wyverns were already up 47-28 at the time.

The Fil-Spaniard still made the most out of the given time allotted to him. He tallied 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field with three steals, two rebounds, and a steal in 18 minutes and 53 seconds of gametime.

Also going for naught was the 16-point, nine-rebound outing of Eddy Norelia and the 10 points and six rebounds of Joshua Crawford.

Earthfriends went down to 0-4, while the Wyverns went up to 4-0.

Jawad Williams and Josei Maniwa were the main men for Yamagata with 15 points apiece.

Shunto Murakami and Ryohei Kawabe had 12 points each, and Yoshifumi Nakajima got 11 points, eight rebounds, and four assists

Tokyo Z will next face Sendai at Ota Ward General Gymnasium next weekend.
