Blackwater came through with huge shots down the stretch to take Game 1 of the PBA Dickies Women’s 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament finals, 11-6 over Barangay Ginebra, Wednesday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Allana Lim scored seven points to lead the Elite, starting with three baskets to make it 4-3 for Blackwater early in the match.
Free throws by Mary Joy Galicia and Mix Bautista allowed Ginebra to tie the game at 5 apiece, although Lim scored three of the next four Blackwater points to make it 9-5 under the final minute.
Angeli Gloriani scored on a turnover to pull Ginebra within 6-9, but Camille Sambile ended the match with two more points for the final tally.
Game 2 will take place on Saturday.
In the first game, NLEX used a hot start to beat Alaska, 11-7 and win third place.
Anna Buendia and Angelika Ortega each scored three points in a 6-1 run to open the game as the Road Warriors asserted control early.
Banjo Soriano ended the drought for Alaska with a basket, before April Siat added two more. The Aces pulled within 5-9 but Fria Bernardo hit a long range shot to push the NLEX lead up to 11-5.
Alaska ran out of time in their fight back attempt, as the squad settled for fourth spot.
