Blackwater once again went on a splendid start and maintained the cushion throughout the game to beat Ginebra, 7-4 and win the first ever PBA 3-on-3 women’s tournament title Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Camille Sambile and Allana Lim each scored two points in the early goings to help Blackwater build a 4-0 start.
Ginebra struggled to score against Blackwater’s impressive defense, and Lim and France Cabinbin extended the lead up to 6-0.
Dinn Yamamoto ended the drought for Ginebra after scoring off a turnover, before MJ Galicia and Angeli Gloriani each added baskets to make it 6-3.
Ginebra however, continued to fire blanks from the outside in a desperate bid to steal the match. Blackwater held on for the victory to complete a two-game sweep in the best-of-3 series.
Blackwater finished with an undefeated record throughout the tournament. The team went on a 5-0 record in the elimination round, beat NLEX in the semi-finals before sweeping Ginebra.
