Blackwater and Barangay Ginebra scored close victories Monday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena to enter the finals of the PBA Dickies Women’s 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.
Blackwater first defeated NLEX, 12-10, in a come-from-behind win which had needed overtime.
Fria Bernardo opened the game with a drive and a two, handing NLEX a 3-0 early lead, but Allana Lim scored back-to-back underneath. Camille Sambile knocked down a jumper to push Blackwater ahead, 4-3. The two teams went toe-to-toe before an and-one play by Mae Cabinbin and a basket by Lim pushed Blackwater’s lead to 10-8 under the final minute. Angelika Ortega however, scored two straight layups to force extension.
In overtime, Lim scored a short stab while Cabinbin nailed a free throw after being fouled on an attack to end the game.
In the second game, Ginebra edged Alaska, 10-7, to complete the finals cast.
Angeli Gloriani hit form, draining double two-pointers as Ginebra held a 6-3 lead. Banjo Soriano’s and-one play pulled Alaska within 6-5 but MJ Galicia hit a free throw, while Gloriani nailed another two to make it 9-5 for Ginebra. Soriano answered with a long range shot of her own to pull Alaska closer but Galicia extended the lead to 10-7 under the final minute to seal it for Ginebra.
