Basic sensational in debut, tows ONIC PH to second phase of Mytel playoffs

Basic had a rousing debut for ONIC PH, leading his squad to the second phase of the 2020 Mytel International Championship playoffs after downing EVOS Singapore via a 2-1 victory in the lower bracket, Monday afternoon.

Basic, who subbed in for Wise in the crucial Game Three, played his first game for the ONIC franchise after being released by ULVL.

And the 21-year-old middle-laner did not disappoint, putting up a monster stat line of 17 kills and eight assists with no deaths playing Hayabusa.

ONIC PH started the game aggressively with the trio of Basic, Jay (Khufra), and OhMyV33nus (Pharsa), denying EVOS’ Pokemon (Granger) his orange buff. On the other side, Dlar (Thamuz) was able to invade EVOS’ purple buff, leaving Pokemon with no jungle monsters to farm.

That early game invasion definitely gave the upper hand to ONIC PH as EVOS had a rough time providing space for their core.

Trying to delay the inevitable, Potato (X.Borg) and AEON (Atlas) were able to steal the lord from Basic, OhMyV33NUS, and Iy4knu (Chou). ONIC, though, took down the two easily while Iy4knu went down to the bottom lane to body block the lord.

A double kill by Basic then sealed the deal for ONIC PH.

The supporting cast of Jay and OhMYV33NUS provided 30 assists in the match to go along with seven kills while offlaners Iy4knu and Dlar added three and two kills, respectively.

ONIC PH will be facing Geek Fam Indonesia in the next phase of the playoffs on Wednesday.
