Bagunas sits out game as Oita Miyoshi suffers 22nd loss in V.League

Oita Miyoshi absorbed their second straight loss, bowing to JT Thunders anew, 21-25, 19-25, 22-25, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 men’s tournament, Sunday at the Hiroshima Green Arena.

Meanwhile, Bryan Bagunas, one of the team’s leaders, sat out due to lower back pain.

The Filipino import is not yet sure on when he will be back on the court.

“Depende pa po kung magiging okay na ang likod ko, pero gusto muna ako ipahinga ng one more week,” Bagunas told Tiebreaker Times.

Curtis Stockton led the short-handed Oita Miyoshi with 20 points on 16 attacks, three aces, and a block. Motoyuki Onishi then backstopped the Australian with 10 markers.

The loss brought Weisse Adler’s win-loss standing to 2-22.

On the other hand, Thomas Edgar was the high man anew for Hiroshima with 20 points, founded on 15 spikes, three aces, and two block kills.

Yudai Arai uncorked 10 markers as the Thunders improved to .500 at 12-12.

Oita Miyoshi looks to break out of their slump on Saturday, Feb.20, 1 pm. They collide with the league-leading Suntory Sunbirds at Beppu Arena.
