As if their 24-point drubbing of Dwight Ramos and Hokkaido on Saturday was not convincing enough, Nagoya followed it up by inflicting more humiliation on Levanga as Ray Parks and the Diamond Dolphins scored a 112-77 victory, Sunday in the 2022-23 B.League Season at Dolphins Arena.
The Diamond Dolphins were ahead from opening tipoff to the final buzzer in a game where they led by as much as 40 points which earned for the squad their sixth win in eight games.
Nagoya is just a W behind Ryukyu for the best record in the entire Japan B. League. Hokkaido suffered their sixth loss in eight games.
Coty Clark once again led the Diamond Dolphins with 27 points, but this time, he got more support as four of his teammates also scored in double figures.
Among them was Parks who after a quiet outing the previous day sizzled in the return match with a prolific 7-of-10 shooting from the floor for 16 points. He also five rebounds and three steals.
Ramos scored 10 points, the fifth time in eight games he produced double figures. He also had four rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Ramos tops all Filipinos in scoring in Division 1 with his average of 12.13 points and leads the entire B. League in steals with 3.08 per game.
At the Kyoto City Gymnasium, Matthew Wright and Kyoto swept Niigata, 88-64.
The Hannaryz picked up their third straight victory to even their record at 4-4 after starting the season with four losses in their first five games. Their win on Sunday was built on their solid defense as they had 10 steals compared to the Hannaryz’s three and seven blocks as against just one by the Albirex.
Wright scored nine points and had four steals as he was key in clampling down the Niagata offense which could only connect on 34%-percnetof their field goal tries.
Thirdy Ravena came away with two wins over Osaka as San-En repeated over the home team, 78-70, at the Ookini Arena Maishima.
Now on his third season with the NeoPhoenix, the younger Ravena had 13 points to backstop import Kyle Collinsworth who had 16. Ravena, one of the league leaders in assists, also had six dimes in 25 minutes of play.
The NeoPhoenix have now won five of their last six games after dropping their opening two outings.
Shiga’s woes continued on Sunday as they found themselves getting pummeled anew, 58-90, by defending champion Chiba at Funabashi Arena.
Kiefer Ravena did all he could for the Lakestars as he registered 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block. He did, however, shoot just 30-percent from the floor, sinking only four of his 13 attempts and missing all four tries from three.
The Lakes now have a 2-6 record, just a game ahead of tailenders Toyama and Niigata.
Over at the Kamei Arena Sendai, Matthew Aquino finally scored after three games and finished with 11 points to contribute to Shinshu’s 77-62 win over Sendai.
