The five young guns of JR Guevara’s EOG Sports Management have just thrown their names in the 2023 PBA Draft on Saturday.
Leading the quartet is BJ Andrade, the Ateneo de Manila University floor general who steered the Blue Eagles to the UAAP Season 85 crown.
Andrade, 26, averaged 9.06 points, 2.61 rebounds, and 2.0 assists for Ateneo last season.
However, the 6-foot guard is still recovering from an ACL tear he sustained last February during a PSL Pro game.
Still, Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin is confident that whoever gets to pick Andrade will get a proven winner.
“If I can just say, if there’s any coach that’s out there listening, if you want a winner in your team, you want a guy that defends, can shoot the ball, will do whatever you say, run through brick walls for you, loves his teammates, get BJ Andrade,” said Baldwin.
Meanwhile, Bahio is another prospect scouts have had eyes on since the NCAA Season 98 tournament.
The 6-foot-5 native of Lapu Lapu City is coming off a standout senior year with San Beda University that saw him put up numbers of 11.58 points, 9.84 rebounds, and 1.84 assists per game.
Also throwing their names to the draft are Zach Huang, Rhinwill Yambing, and Ken Villapando.
Huang is an all-around 6-foot-4 forward who was previously the No. 2-ranked 3×3 player in the country.
Yambing, on the other hand, is an athletic 6-foot-3 winger who has all the potential in the world.
His fellow Stag Villapando is a sharpshooting 6-foot-2 guard.
All three are currently playing for San Juan in the MPBL with Huang putting up solid numbers of 10.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
