After her 7-3 loss to Chezka Centeno in the 30th Southeast Asian Games’ women’s 10-ball singles final last Saturday, Rubilen Amit then aimed to do better in the 9-ball singles championship taking place the following day.
She did just that.
The former world champion got back at the 20-year-old, dealing Centeno a 7-3 defeat to add another SEA Games gold medal to her already-stacked collection, Sunday evening at The Tent City of the Manila Hotel.
Amit came back from a 3-1 deficit en route to winning her fourth 9-ball gold — her sixth overall. She also prevented Centeno from scoring a double gold, just as she did in the 2017 Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Amit took the victory after finally got her breaks going. She didn’t have the same in the 10-ball final that allowed Centeno to pull away and establish a 6-1 lead before walking away with the triumph.
“I’m very grateful na nanalo ako for this 9-ball,” said Amit, who last won in the SEA Games all the way back in 2009.
Amit and Centeno will now work together again for the women’s 9-ball semifinals.
