Sports Vision president Ricky Palou announced more than just the professionalization of the Premier Volleyball League on Friday evening.
During the press conference of PVL and Games and Amusements Board, Palou also revealed that the Spiker’s Turf is a separate entity from Sports Vision.
“Just for your information, the Spiker’s Turf is not under Sports Vision. It’s a different entity altogether,” said Palou.
And the league is under the leadership of Alyssa Valdez.
Yes, the six-time PVL Most Valuable Player is also the president of the first-ever men’s volleyball league in the country.
“Alyssa Valdez is the president of Spiker’s Turf,” continued Palou.
Under the leadership of the 27-year-old Valdez, she will reach out to the league’s clubs like Cignal, PLDT, Sta. Elena, Instituto Estetico Manila, Cafe Lupe Hostel & Restaurant, Easytrip Services, and Go for Gold about the league’s next step — turning pro.
It is an exciting development for GAB chairman Baham Mitra, since turning pro means that it will lead to more boys pursuing the sport of volleyball.
“With this development, lalong rarami at lalaki ‘yung volleyball. If may career and growth sa life after college, lalong madaming maglalaro,” said Mitra.
“Salamat for this chance to be working with you and helping volleyball.”
Valdez’s beau Kiefer Ravena, on the other hand, is also a partner in the Women’s National Basketball League.
