In sports, there will always be painful setbacks that will try to obstruct one’s quest of fulfilling their potential.
For Philippine Women’s National Football Team defender Dominique Randle, she shall now have her eyes set on the country’s immediate international campaigns after her trial with National Women’s Soccer League side Angel City did not pan out in her favor.
“Thank you to everyone who has wished me well during the NSWL preseason,” shared the 27-year-old center-back through her Twitter account on Thursday.
“I’m sad to say that I didn’t make the Angel City roster. I’m grateful to have entered such an intense training environment with world-class players.
“To be considered was an absolute honor. I got amazing constructive feedback from Coach Coombe and the ACFC support staff was topnotch. As this challenge was one I didn’t overcome, it’s always important to remember the journey. A year ago, I wasn’t playing soccer or even in shape,” she expressed.
While any rejection if life is difficult to accept, the Seattle, Washington, native is already looking ahead towards her future with the national team.
Following a successful AFC Women’s Asian Cup earlier in the year, more doors will surely open for her in her football career.
With the likes of the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, and the AFF Women’s Championship to come this year, it should not be impossible for Randle to play the competitive football she needs before entering the world stage in Australia and New Zealand next year.
“The World Cup is still my long-term goal and I’m focusing on improving each day. Right now, my focus is on the PWNT ad getting ready for our next camp/competitions. I don’t know where my next stop will be, but I’m excited about what’s to come.”
