Adamson ends UAAP Men’s Football season on high with goalless draw vs UP

Adamson University capped off its campaign in the UAAP Season 88 Collegiate Men’s Football Tournament on a high note, securing a credible goalless draw against league leader University of the Philippines on Sunday at the UP Diliman Football Stadium.

The Soaring Falcons finished the season with 10 points, placing sixth with two wins, four draws, and six losses. This was an improvement from last season, when they ended at the bottom with nine points from just three victories.

“Tough game,” said coach Darlton Digha. “What a game. I think we gave our best in terms of defense. It was a good defensive performance. I’m very happy with the draw.”

Adamson’s defense remained resolute throughout the match, keeping UP goalless at halftime despite the Fighting Maroons dominating possession.

In the second half, the Soaring Falcons also created chances. Lee Christian Hayahay and Elijah Pabalate both came close to scoring, though their attempts went off-target.

UP had several opportunities from set-pieces but rarely troubled Adamson goalkeeper Christian Lauron, thanks to timely clearances from his teammates. Late chances from Cian Galsim and Ramil Bation III were also thwarted, keeping the scoreline level.

“We are just making history,” Digha added. “Last season, we finished on a high note, and this season we finished on a high note. So my challenge for my players now is, ‘Can you start next season on a high note?

“I have five players graduating: my team captain Ivan Francisco, Bjohn Banagodos, Karl Maghinay, Pius Cueno, and Jhon Conquilla. It’s so sad to see them leave. I’m proud of what they’ve given back to the school.”
