NU overpowers Adamson for 4-0 start; UST bounces back at Ateneo’s expense

Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad of the National University Bulldogs continued to stamp its class in the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Beach Volleyball tournament while University of Santo Tomas’ uncle-nephew tandem of Kris Roy Guzman and Anthony Arbasto vented its ire on the Ateneo Blue Eagles, Saturday evening at the SM Sands By the Bay in Pasay City.

Bagunas and Natividad closed out the day’s four-game slate with a sound lambasting of the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 21-13, 21-13, to go to 4-0.

But the day belonged to the UST Tiger Spikers.

After their indoor team ended the two-year win streak of the Blue Eagles in the PVL Men’s Collegiate Conference earlier in the day, Guzman and Arbasto did not let up in taking down Ateneo’s Marck Espejo and Karl Baysa, 21-14, 21-13.

UST and FEU are tied at 3-1 while Ateneo retained solo fourth with an even 4-4 slate.

FEU’s Jude Garcia and Richard Solis swept the DLSU Green Spikers to keep pace with UST while the UP Fighting Maroons’ Wendel Miguel and Niccolo Consuelo barged into the win column after outlasting the UE Red Warriors, 20-22, 22-20, 15-13.
