After winning a historic silver at the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, Gilas Pilipinas Women are aiming to make history once again.
The Philippines is set to compete in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2026 Qualifiers from April 11 to 12, also in Singapore.
Gilas Women are placed in Pool B alongside host Singapore and Brazil, while Pool A features Hungary, Lithuania, and Egypt.
The top two teams from each pool will advance to the knockout stage, with the podium finishers earning a spot in the World Cup, scheduled from June 1 to 7 in Warsaw, Poland.
The only previous World Cup appearance for Gilas Women was in 2018 when the country hosted the tournament at the Philippine Arena, where they finished 17th.
The Philippines enters as the top seed in Pool B, ranked 19th in the world, followed closely by Singapore at 20th. Brazil is ranked 62nd globally.
The tougher challenge lies in Pool A, where Hungary is ranked 13th and Lithuania 22nd in the world.
Coach Anton Altamirano’s squad will retain Kacey dela Rosa, Afril Bernardino, and Mikka Cacho.
Replacing 5-foot-5 Cheska Apag is 5-foot-9 Tantoy Ferrer, currently the sixth-ranked player in the country.
Gilas Women will return home on Monday before departing for Singapore again on April 9.
