Alyssa Valdez will be taking her talents far north of the Philippines
In a video clip on Twitter from her former Ateneo teammate Grethcen Ho, the four-time PVL MVP confirmed that she had closed a deal to play for Attack Line in Chinese Taipei.
The 24-year old winger revealed that she had received an offer from the club in 2015 after the Philippines had hosted the AVC U-23 tournament, where they lost to Chinese Taipei in the classification stage. Since she still had a year of UAAP playing eligibility, Valdez had had to decline the offer.
Last month, both sides met again when the AVC Seniors Championship was held in Biñan, Laguna. With the PVL club season done, the Batangueña has no commitments left with her mother club, Creamline.
“Exciting talaga kasi first time ko din sa Chinese Taipei,” the two-time UAAP champion said in the video.
“I’m excited not only for volleyball, but to experience another culture in Chinese Taipei.”
Valdez will be in Chinese Taipei from October to December. This will be her second stint with a foreign club after playing for 3BB Nakornonnt in Thailand earlier this year.
