The Adamson University Soaring Falcons stepped on the pedals and never looked back to subdue the Flying V Thunder, 94-67, Wednesday afternoon at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
The Thunder were without Jeron Teng and Thomas Torres due to school, Hans Thiele who is working on his visa, and Aris Dionisio due to a dislocated finger.
With center Pape Sarr out nursing a sprain injury, it was an opportunity for the San Marcelino-based to gain exposure.
“Ang instruction ni coach Franz today is to give more chance dun sa mga hindi masyadong nabibigyan ng playing time,” assistant coach Jack Santiago shared.
That gave Simon Camacho the confidence and came up with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Soaring Falcons in the match. Jerrick Ahanmisi got four of his five made shots from behind-the-arc to add 14 markers.
Ahanmisi’s shooting reflects the overall impressivr output of Adamson, which finished with 56 percent shooting clip. On the other hand, the Thunder only registered 36 percent.
After Eric Salamat made a basket, 37.9 seconds remaining in the first quarter to send the hosts to within five, 15-20, the Falcons pulled away with a 13-4 run in the second quarter.
Terrence Mustre, who played his first game after missing several games, shot a trey to start of the steak, before Camacho put up four points to put the blue-shirts up by 14, 33-19.
From there, the Soaring Falcons never looked back. The advantage reached its highest at 30 points with a Leo Frias basket at the dying seconds of the game at 94-64.
Gab Banal carried the cudgels for the Thunder, who missed the services of star forward Jeron Teng and Thomas Torres, with 12 points and four rebounds.
