Showing no signs of slowing down, Indonesia chalked up their fourth consecutive win at the expense of Vietnam, 95-52, in the 2017 SEABA Championship for Men on Friday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
The lopsided victory sent Indonesia’s record to a clean 4-0, and they now sit atop the team standings. The Vietnamese, on the other hand, failed to sustain their rhythm from last night’s win versus Myanmar and dropped to 1-3.
Andakara Dhyaksa led Indonesia with 19 points on 70 percent shooting to go with five assists, while lanky forward Sandy Kurniawan provided 18 markers, with his 6-of-10 shooting output all coming from beyond-the-arc.
But it was Mario Wuysang who orchestrated Indonesia’s offense, dishing out 10 assists to go along with seven points, five rebounds, and five steals.
The Indonesians doubled Vietnam’s output in the final period, as back-to-back triples courtesy of Kurniawan and Dhyaksa sent them ahead to an insurmountable 42-point lead, 84-42, still with 4:19 left to play.
Diftha Pritama and Kevin Sitorus supplied 12 and 10 markers respectively, with Sitorus adding 11 rebounds to his statline. Every Indonesian fielded scored in the game.
Trieu Han Minh and Le Ngoc Tu anchored Myanmar with 12 points each.
The Indonesians imposed their will in rebounds, 53-38. They also sank 35 of their 72 tries, with majority of their shots coming from the 29 assists they dished. Indonesia also forced Vietnam to 17 turnovers and scored 19 from it.
Indonesia will head into a break tomorrow, May 16, before looking to maintain their unscathed run as they face Myanmar on Wednesday, May 17, at 3:00 PM. Vietnam, meanwhile, will play Malaysia tomorrow at 5:00 PM.
