NLEX seeks momentum, Converge targets upset push in PBA Comm’s Cup

NLEX will look to strengthen its grip on the top spot when it battles Converge later in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Road Warriors emerged as the new leaders following a pulsating 92-90 victory over erstwhile frontrunner Rain or Shine, thanks to JB Bahio, and would surely want to ride that wave of momentum against a desperate FiberXers.

Game time is set at 7:30 p.m., with the charges of Coach Jong Uichico coming in as the favorites, as far as the Casino Plus sportsbook is concerned.

They’re seen to win by -3.0 points against their playoff-chasing foes, with the over/under in total points scored between the two set at 202.5

NLEX (8-2) would not only solidify its hold of the no. 1 spot but would move closer as well to locking a Top Four finish, which merits a twice-to-beat edge for the quarterfinals. But the crew knows that it’d be easier said than done.

That’s because their foes are bent on winning a third straight outing to bolster their playoff chances, now that they’re just outside the Top Eight with a 4-6 record following crucial wins against TNT and an all-Filipino Phoenix.

Should Coach Delta Pineda & Co. pull off another upset, they’d sure be sending out distress signals to Magnolia and San Miguel, both of which are sitting at seventh and eighth in the standings, respectively, with similar 5-5 records.

Opening the twinbill offering at 5:15 p.m., meanwhile, would be the 3-6 Terrafirma and the also-ran Macau (2-8) in a crucial match for the former.

Sure, the Dyip are in the midst of yet another harrowing skid just like the old times–they’ve lost their last six games, to be exact–yet they remain in contention for a quarterfinal spot thanks to their 3-0 start to the joust.

All that they have to do is sweep their remaining games to earn six wins, which, historically, has proven enough for teams to make it to the quarterfinals of a conference that features a total of 13 participants–guest teams included.

However, the Casino Plus sportsbook isn’t in their favor, with the betting odds saying that the Black Knights are favored to win by -3.0 points.

That’s because momentum is on the side of the guest squad. Macau has won twice in its last three games, the most recent of which was a 123-119 escape against a Blackwater side that missed Robert Upshaw III due to a calf injury.Casinoplus-Bathala-and-Alden-Richards NLEX seeks momentum, Converge targets upset push in PBA Comm's Cup Basketball News PBA - philippine sports news
