Gilas Pilipinas Women inched closer to securing a berth in the FIBA 3×3 Under-23 World Cup after topping the fourth stop of the 2025 Youth Nations League – Asia-Pacific 1 on Monday morning (Manila time).
The Philippines once again defeated Chinese Taipei in the final, pulling off a 21-15 win (9:22) in Doha, Qatar.
It was a well-balanced effort from the Filipinas, with Cielo Pagdulagan and Tin Cayabyab leading the charge with six points apiece, while Kacey Dela Rosa added five.
Cheska Apag contributed four points, including the game-winning shot with 38 seconds left.
Gilas Women now sits atop the overall standings with 370 points — 50 ahead of Chinese Taipei and 60 clear of New Zealand.
After suffering a heartbreaking 19-18 loss to New Zealand in Stop 3, the Filipinas bounced back with a vengeance, scoring a 14-10 win behind Dela Rosa’s six points, while Pagdulagan and Cayabyab chipped in four each.
The Philippines then secured a spot in the final by overpowering host nation Qatar, 21-14 (7:13).
Cayabyab and Dela Rosa proved unstoppable, scoring 11 and seven points, respectively.
On the men’s side, Gilas remains in third place with 280 points — 100 points behind top-seeded New Zealand.
The men’s squad, composed of Nic Cabanero, Zedjay Etulle, Anton Eusebio, and Irene Galas, fell to New Zealand, 13-21, before bouncing back with a 21-14 rout of Indonesia.
In Stop 5, happening tonight, Gilas Women will go up against Singapore and Qatar, while the men’s side will take on Qatar and Indonesia.
