LVPI debunks PVL clubs claims

The frustration among the club owners of the Premier Volleyball League regarding the availability of their imports reached its boiling point on Saturday, as multiple personalities have voiced their displeasure on social media. Some blamed the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. as the reason why their imports have yet to secure their International Transfer Certificates for the on-going Reinforced Conference.

A total of 11 imports have yet to participate in the tournament as a result, namely: American Jennifer Keddy and Thai Jeng Bualee for BaliPure; American Laura Schaudt and Thai Kuttika Kaewpin for Creamline; Thais Amporn Hyapha and Kannika Thipachot for the Power Smashers; Thai Patcharee Sangmuang for Air Force; Brazilian Rupia Inck and Japanese Naoko Hashimoto for Perlas; and Bosnian Edina Selimovic and American Michelle Strizak for Pocari Sweat.

Moreover, PVL club teams Pocari Sweat, Bali Pure, and Creamline have cited this as one of the reason’s why they decided to bar their players from participating in the fund-raising event Clash of Heroes, scheduled to take place on Monday, May 15, at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

PVL President Ricky Palou has gone on record to say that he has been making several attempts through the Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. to secure the ITCs but to no avail.

Initially, the legal feud between LVPI and former volleyball NSA Philippine Volleyball Federation was blamed for the slow processing of ITCs. But the FIVB already settled the matter earlier this week but, still, the imports yet to be cleared.

Holding positions in the AVC and FIVB, Suzara is thought to have swayed the issuance of ITCs.

The LVPI debunked the claims made against him in a statement released by president Joey Romasanta.

“The LVPI decries the attacks on the person of Mr. Ramon Suzara regarding the PVL-ITC requirements as unfair, irresponsible, unprofessional, and most unkind,” the statement read.

Romasanta added that they have exhausted all their efforts to clear the imports.

“LVPI has exerted all efforts to secure ITCs for PVL but was instructed by the FIVB to wait. A total of 25 follow up emails and phone calls to the FIVB were done by the LVPI,” the statement continued.

“It should be noted that securing ITCs, if needed, is the main responsibility of the organizer.”
