2017 SEABA Championship

SEABA champion slotted in Group B for World Cup qualifiers

The fate of the winner of the 2017 SEABA Champions has been determined this Sunday night during the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers draw held in Guangzhou, China.

The winner of the regional SEABA meet, a tournament that will start on Friday, May 12, will be slotted into Group B together with 48th ranked Japan, 48th ranked Chinese-Taipei, and 10th ranked Australia.

Only one team will be eliminated from each group — determined after the home and away games. From there, the top three teams from the four groups will be divided into two groups of six (Group E and F).

The top three teams in the second stage will join China in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

First round games will be played in November 2017, February 2018, and June 2018.
