Just a week after Gilas Pilipinas Women’s historic silver medal finish in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, the Filipinas are chasing another milestone.
The Philippines secured the top seed in Pool B despite finishing with a 1–1 record, advancing to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifiers on Saturday evening at OCBC Square in Kallang, Singapore.
Gilas dropped its opening game to Brazil, 16–13, before bouncing back with a 21–19 (9:39) victory over Singapore to keep its hopes alive heading into Day 2.
Singapore then pulled off a 15–13 win over Brazil in the nightcap, forcing a three-way tie in the pool.
The Philippines and Singapore advanced after both teams scored 34 total points across their two games, eliminating Brazil, which managed only 29.
With this, Gilas will face world No. 22 Lithuania in the semifinals at 6:25 p.m., while Singapore takes on No. 13 Hungary at 6 p.m.
The semifinal winners will earn automatic berths to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup set for June 1–7 in Warsaw, Poland.
Meanwhile, the losing teams will battle in a knockout game to determine the final qualifier for the global meet.
Against Brazil, Gilas struggled to contain Gabriela Guimarães, who poured in 10 points. Afril Bernardino and Tantoy Ferrer led the Philippines with five points each.
The Filipinas regrouped against Singapore. Tied at 19-all, Kacey dela Rosa took over, scoring the team’s final two baskets—including the game-winner with 29 seconds left—to finish with 11 points.
In the final game of the pool, Jermaine Lim tied the match for Singapore with eight seconds remaining. A turnover by Brazil set up Han Xingyue, who knocked down a buzzer-beating two-pointer to seal their spot in the semifinals.
