In front of their wildly cheering supporters, the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas Dolphins did not disappoint, ruling the inaugural badminton event of PGFlex-UCAL Season 8 in grand fashion recently at the Dasmariñas campus gym.
Fueled by the roaring crowd that grew louder with every point, the Dolphins completed a dominant sweep of all five gold medals contested in the one-day tournament—an improvement from their 4-of-5 haul in the table tennis event held two weeks prior.
The triumph also served as redemption for PCU-D after a disappointing fourth-place finish in men’s basketball last week.
Jeffrey Ambat and Kate Abales spearheaded the Dolphins’ campaign, capturing the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, while anchoring the school’s overall team championship run.
In doubles play, Arend Del Rosario and Mark Delos Reyes ruled the men’s division, while Arlyn Peromingan and Shekinan Devera topped the women’s side.
Christian and Ella Riogelon also delivered for PCU-D, showcasing their dominance in the mixed doubles event.
Up next for the league, which is fully supported by Akari, Advance Solutions Inc., Smart Sports, Spalding, Quintana Sports, Crane Faucet, Hapee Toothpaste, CafeFrance, Vital, TopFlite Academy, Maruyama, Gerry’s Grill, Mighty Bond, and Undftd Sportswear, are the 3×3 basketball and esports competitions.
