God’s gift to Ateneo continues his haul
For the fourth year in a row, Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles ace Marck Espejo will be crowned as the UAAP’s Most Valuable Player.
The 20-year-old open spiker posted norms of 17 points per contest on a 57.62 percent hit rate, leading the defending Men’s Volleyball champions to a 14-0 sweep of the elimination round.
His teammate Ish Polvorosa is the regular season’s Best Server, tallying 11.93 excellent sets per set.
Filipino-Nigerian Chumason Njigha, a former trackster back in his secondary school days, will be this season’s top rookie.
Two National University Bulldogs will also be awarded.
Bryan Bagunas is this season’s most efficient server, as he averaged .45 service aces per set.
Meanwhile, hyper libero Ricky Marcos will be named as the league’s Best Digger with 4.04 digs per set.
A couple of Far Eastern University Tamaraws round out the All-UAAP team.
John Paul Bugaoan is this season’s top blocker with an average of .78 kill blocks per set.
FEU libero Rikko Marmeto topped the reception department with a 63.95 percent efficiency rating.
The UAAP Season 79 Volleyball awarding ceremony will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, May 6.
