Pringle laments ‘first-ever’ ejection

Stanley Pringle’s ejection contributed to Globalport’s second loss of the season

For the first time in his PBA career, Stanley Pringle was disqualified from a game due to an unsportsmanlike foul. And it might have cost the Globalport Batang Pier their second loss of the season.

After being assessed his first flagrant foul with six minutes left in the third frame, the 6-foot-1 floor general was initially called for a foul on a three-point attempting Mac Belo with 2:21 left in the same quarter. During that time, the Batang Pier were on the verge of rallying back, down 70-61.

“The second flagrant happened and I was like, ‘Man, three shots [for Belo],’” the third-year Batang Pier reflected.

However, disaster struck for Pringle and his team. His foul was quickly upgraded to a flagrant foul that resulted to his ejection.

“And they were like, ‘No, you’re ejected.’ And I said, ‘Woah, ejected?!,” he furthered. “That was the first time I got ejected

“I went ahead to sit down [on the bench], they were like, ‘No, you have to leave the gym.’ I was like, ‘Oh man!’ I felt bad, I felt like a criminal.”

During that time, Pringle had already tallied 14 points, four rebounds, and two assists, 4.5 points and 1.8 assists shy of his norms.

For the 27-year-old, he has no choice but to accept the decision of the referees of the game and the 91-99 loss to Blackwater.

“But refs just doing they job. Both accidental, but sometimes, ball rolls like that,” he said.

Pringle though is staying positive despite the costly ejection, hoping they can bounce back in their next outing on Wednesday, December 28 at the Cuneta Astrodome.

“We play Phoenix next. You gotta stay positive. Definitely, some things to correct on defense,” he shared.
