#KAFOneMoreYear provocateur Dy elated with Fajardo’s return

She started a hashtag on Twitter then she became viral after singing on National TV. Now, Kim Kianna Dy can finally rejoice after beloved teammate Kim Fajardo made her return for her final UAAP season.

Immediately after the De La Salle University Lady Spikers clinched the UAAP Season 78 championship in which Dy was named Finals MVP, Fajardo had made it known that she was unsure of playing her fifth year of UAAP eligibility.

The 5-foot-11 opposite hitter then took to social media in an attempt to persuade Fajardo to stay, making #KAFOneMoreYear trend locally. During their championship press tour, Dy famously sang her rendition of “Tatlong Bibe” on CNN’s Sportsdesk, replacing the lyrics with odes to the two-time Best Setter.

Up to when they both played for the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the PSL, Dy often hijacked Fajardo’s interviews with sportswriters to keep wanting to get Fajardo to come back.

At one point, the DLSU-Zobel product even thought that all her efforts went for naught.UAAP-Season-78-DLSU-Lady-Spikers-Kim-Fajardo #KAFOneMoreYear provocateur Dy elated with Fajardo's return DLSU News UAAP Volleyball - philippine sports news

“She wanted to talk me so syempre I was scared because she was so serious when she said ‘Kakaausapin kita”. Then she said na ‘Wag ka iiyak ha, di na ako maglalaro’,” recalled the incoming fourth year winger.

“Eh siyempre umiyak ako and then she hugged me and said ‘Joke lang! Maglalaro pa ako.'”

With La Salle having already lost stalwarts Mika Reyes, Ara Galang, and Cyd Demecillo, the defending champs would have surely struggled to fill Fajardo’s, Season 78’s Best Setter, role both as team captain and playmaker.

Just having Fajardo back in practices has already had a major effect on team morale according to Dy.

“For me super malaking bagay kasi Ate Kim leads us all and siyempre we all listen to her. Kahit presence niya lang when she started training with us super ginaganahan kami lahat,” Dy admitted.

If anything, Dy is elated to have Fajardo by her side both on and off the court for one more run in the UAAP.
