The UAAP Season 79 Basketball post-season is upon us.
With just nine teams remaining, four in the men’s side and five in the women’s division, they are going to put everything on the line for that one shining moment.
In the men’s division, the league-leading De La Salle University Green Archers (13-1) face a familiar face in their semifinals bracket, taking on coach Franz Pumaren and the Adamson University Soaring Falcons (8-6). The series is set to begin on Wednesday, November 23, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, with the Green Archers holding a twice-to-beat edge.
Over at the other bracket, the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles (10-4) will take on defending champions Far Eastern University Tamaraws (9-5) in a rematch of last season’s semifinals. Ateneo will hold the twice-to-beat advantage in the series that will begin on Saturday, November 26, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena as well.
If a win-or-go-home Game Two occurs, the game will be played on Wednesday, November 30, at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. If both series goes the full length, the Ateneo-FEU game will be played at 12:00nn, while the La Salle-Adamson tilt is scheduled to take place at 4:00pm.
Over at the women’s division, the University of Santo Growling Tigresses and the Adamson Lady Falcons, both sporting twin records of 6-8, will slug it out in a knockout game on Wednesday, November 23 at 12:00nn. The winner of the game will advance to the next stage of the stepladder, facing the University of the East Lady Warriors (10-4) in another knockout game on Saturday, November 26 at 12:00nn.
The De La Salle University Lady Archers, holding a twice-to-beat advantage with an 11-3 slate, await the survivor of those games. The semifinals series is tentatively scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 30.
